Our Athenian abode is on the brink of its inaugural summer, sights set on reviving the golden era of the Greek Riviera in all its seaside joie de vie and sartorial gusto. Our stretch of shore has long been an enviable holiday destination, bewitching wanderers with its clear sparkling waters, long sunsets and uncomplicated way of life.
Cradled by this cerulean seascape, Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens stands as an unabashed beacon of interwoven art, design and cantilevered balconies, conjuring the bright milieu of poolside culture.
Our neighbors are the mainland beaches that evoke the enchantments of the Greek Isles; the Glyfada marinas, where cream-colored fishermen’s kiosks crop up to inspect the morning’s catch beneath the Attic sun, set to full shimmer; the healing waters of the hidden Lake Vouliagmeni, fed from underground currents of Mount Hymettus (our friends Greek Visions caught Fred Again lakeside last year); and the communal ritual of the weekly laiki agora, or local farmers market, selling its colorful cornucopia of goods.
Here, we’ve got cabanas, loungers and daybeds — by the pool and in the pool — and a bar you can walk to barefoot, all easy and breezy like. Sebastian, our ground-floor bistro led by local chef-legend Elvi Dimitris Zyba, is an inspired confluence of coastal Mediterranean cuisine, always fresh and flavorful. Hot coffee is the dish du jour, along with fresh pastries and Daphnis and Chloe Greek Mountain tea, at our downstairs cafe Good Chemistry.
And upstairs, our awaited all-seasons rooftop restaurant and dipping pool are nearly ready for your sunrise salutations and sunset revelry, all backdropped by sweeping views of the sea. More soon.
Come live la dolce vida with us, spritz in hand.
Cheers,
Ace
