A few things you can do with it:
Ask questions about your data. Type something like "How many open tasks are assigned to me?" or "Summarize this week's new submissions" and get an answer right in the thread.
Create and update records without leaving Slack. Add a task, change a status, update a field. The assistant confirms before making changes, and your existing Airtable permissions apply to everything.
Get notified when things change. Pair it with Airtable automations to send updates to Slack automatically: status changes, new submissions, approvals, whatever your team needs to see.
It works in public channels, private channels, DMs, and Slack's assistant panel.
Getting started takes about two minutes:
- A Slack workspace admin installs the Airtable app from the Slack App Directory.
- Each team member connects their Airtable account by @mentioning the app or visiting its Home tab.
- Pick a base, and start asking questions.
Already have the Airtable app in Slack? A workspace admin will need to reinstall it to enable the AI assistant. Takes less than a minute and your existing automations and Slack notifications won't be affected.
Best,
The Airtable Team
P.S. The assistant uses your Airtable AI credits, same as in the app. And like any AI, it can make mistakes, so double-check anything important.
