Dear [Name], We know the holidays can be a busy time, which makes a peaceful recharge in nature even more appreciated. For this month's newsletter,
we’ll be highlighting different ways people are tapping into the outdoors to support both their mental and physical health.
We’ll see you out there, The AllTrails Team

| Giving kids a breather outside
|
| We all broke some rules as kids, which may have resulted in a “time out”. Well, schools across the US are starting to redefine what that means. Instead of time inside, or time alone, what if kids were given a refreshing alternative outside?

| Detention? Take a hike.
|
| At Morse High School in Bath, Maine, instead of sitting at a desk after school, students are now given the opportunity to spend time outdoors, reflect on their choices, and engage in meaningful conversation with counselors, combining accountability with mental health benefits.¹
|
| Bringing gym class outside
|
| Forget push-up tests — nationwide, more and more school districts including the Garland Independent School District in Texas² are redefining gym class by weaving outdoor recreation into their physical education curriculum. Students will get a chance to explore activities like Dutch oven cooking, hiking,
archery, fishing, and more.

| Lessons beyond classroom walls
|
| Organizations like Rocky Mountain Conservancy offer youth experiences in hands-on conservation work and leadership development to deepen their understanding of the natural world and themselves while gaining essential outdoor skills. Participants aged 14-17 are given the guidance and support needed to complete a trail restoration project while learning about public land stewardship.
