Hi Pet parent,
🐶 Fall is a beautiful time! But it also creates some unique pup-hazards.
For those of us who have owned dogs for years and been fine, we might think we don't need to worry. Safety tips never apply to us - until they do.
Take a quick look at a few Fall-specific tips on keeping your pup safe.
🍄1. Mushroom Patrol
If you see ‘shrooms, steer your pup clear. 99% are harmless, but the bad 1% can be devastating and hard to tell apart.
If you can't ID it, keep your pup away. If you own a yard, do a patrol every week to see if there are mushrooms growing.
🐾 Emergency Tip: If your dog eats a mushroom, save it to ID it. If it looks like it might be poisonous, don't wait, call your vet.
🐍2. Wildlife Watch (Hi, Snakes)
Cooler temps = snakes looking for hibernation. Keep dogs leashed around tall grass, rock piles, and wood stacks.
Know what venomous species live near you and avoid their hangouts. Bite = vet immediately.
✏️3. School-Supply Snack Attack
If this is your dog's first back-to-school season - this is for you.
Like toddlers, pups love to sniff and sample new, colorful objects...
...with their mouths!
Glue sticks, markers, paperclips, erasers—fun to chomp, not fun to swallow. It's not new for you, but if it is for your dog, watch them interact with the new objects.
If they eat anything, watch for signs of obstruction (vomiting, no poop, lethargy) and call your vet if you spot them.
🛏️ 4. Joint Check: Cold Can Sting
For mature dogs, arthritis can flare when temps drop.
Look for limping, stiffness, or reluctance to jump. Opt for short, warm-up walks, non-slip floors, Pawramps for couch/bed/car, and a supportive bed.

🐶 5. Love & Affection—The Ultimate Mood Booster!
Studies show that when you cuddle or talk to your dog, both of your oxytocin levels (the “love hormone”) increase. Belly rubs, ear scratches, and kind words go a long way in making your pup feel secure and loved.
🐾 Fun Tip: Make eye contact with your dog and give them a slow blink—it’s their version of a love note! ❤️
Bonus: A Happy Pup = A Happy You!
Dogs don’t just receive happiness—they spread it! Studies show that interacting with dogs reduces stress and boosts serotonin in humans too. So, by making your pup happy, you’re also making your own day brighter. 🌞🐶
