Tie; no tie. Why tie? The choice to embrace or reject this convention may be just as influenced by day-to-day dress codes as by instinct and principle. Unsurprisingly, it’s often a divisive and personal affair.
Reflecting on its function, we realised it extends beyond occasions. In terms of styling, a good tie is to the suit what a well-placed comma is to a beautiful sentence. Besides, a big part of its charm lies in sentiment. The collection of images it carries as it joins us through celebrations and goodbyes, the laughs it prompts as the struggles and pleasures of getting the knot right unfold, and the tenderness of getting help from – and helping – our loved ones with such a task.
Far from convincing, our aim is simply to admit: we love a good tie and, luckily, a busy season filled with opportunities to sharpen up is upon us. It is with timely relevance that we present a concise and well-considered tie collection: borrowing inspiration from the classics, but getting modern details – width, texture, pattern – just right.
