Matt considered himself a casual runner, completing one or two half-marathons a year. He was raising a family, advancing his career, and staying healthy. After collapsing on a work trip and being rushed to the hospital by his work colleagues, he was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and told he would be wheelchair-bound within five years.
With his success in what’s often considered one of the most masculine sports in the world, Rob felt he wasn’t being true to himself and those around him. In 2014 he built up the courage to come out, the first professional strongman to do so.
