The SAVE Act would force everyone to present documents, such as a passport or a birth certificate, IN PERSON to prove their citizenship when registering to vote or updating their registration. If passed, it would potentially disenfranchise tens of millions of eligible voters who don’t have access to the required documents or whose names don’t match those documents due to marriage, divorce, or gender-affirming changes. It would also end online voter registration and mail-in registration, making registration much more difficult for thousands of eligible voters. |
