It wouldn't be blade month at Best Made without a note from Japan. And so we close out the month with these last two updates: the release of our first enamel sign in kanji, and the discontinuation of our bestselling brass Japanese Higo Knives (see below).
As an homage to Japanese blades and the noble craft of Japanese bladesmithing, we've translated our bestselling “Stay Sharp” enamel sign into kanji. Hand-crafted in Poland by our most trusted enamelware maker, Best Made enamel signs are a generational investment. Measures 11.75 x 3".
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the discontinuation of our bestselling Brass Higo Knives, and without a doubt the smallest knife we've ever sold (pictured above). Our forge in Japan has recently been overwhelmed by local demand, so they've placed an indefinite hold on new orders. While we look ahead for our next source, we encourage you to stock up while supplies last.
Well that wraps up the 2026 edition of Buchanan-Smith's Blade Directive. We've never devoted an entire month to a product category before, so I wasn't sure how it would all shake out. But there's just something about a good sharp blade I can't resist. Behind the scenes here at HQ it's been a resounding success. We're already planning for next year. That said: if you have any good blade tips, never hesitate to reach out to me directly (peter@bestmadeco.com). Never a dull moment.—PB-S
