One thing I love about an axe is that it's of a human scale: you hold it in your hands, and it just feels like it belongs.
Axes are simple; there are only three parts to them: the handle, the head, and the wedge. There are no batteries or upgrades. You upgrade your axe by sharpening it. And with an axe, you get fire, warmth, food, community, and a connection to humanity.
I just wanted to write this week and remind you all that there is an axe. There is also a backpack, a needle and thread, a pencil, a paintbrush, a spoon, a jump rope, a fishing rod, a snowshoe, a candle, a guitar, a surfboard, or a book.
