A bird's eye view of my desk

Update from Mission Control

|
I recently moved offices and built myself this new desk (a 4 x 6' sheet of 1" birch plywood laminated with a black Formica, reinforced with 1x2" battens underneath, all held up by four steel hairpin legs). I love a big desk. This one holds my computer, but more so it keeps the tangibles within arm's reach—pens, pencils, books, magazines, swatches, fabric headers, a task lamp, a scale, a measuring tape, and with any luck a hot cup of black coffee.
The contents and configuration of my desk seem to change by the hour, and speaks volumes of what's happening around here.
That said it's been a while since I last touched base, and I wanted to shed some light on what's happening —or about to happen—around here. Apparel: this spring we're reviving some tried and true Best Made classics including our 5 pocket pants, standard t-shirts, work shirts, and some core outerwear. Despite the year-long development with makers in NYC, Kentucky, Portugal, and Peru, the wait will prove worthwhile. Also a few Studio Jackets remain, perfect for spring wear. Hard Goods: we're finalizing a new axe design for a possible spring release. Additional projects include expanded steel storage options and restocking a bunch of products including our Go Slow enamel signs, Studio Knives and Gfeller cases.
Note: for sold-out items that you're after, we've added a "notify me" button on product pages, and are working to improve our restocking process. Fall and 2026 developments are in progress.
And so we continue to rebuild Best Made... slowly, and deliberately...
Other things on my radar:
A New Japanese Stationery Source: Though loyal to wooden pencils, I've recently embraced the pen, thanks to my architect friend Brook. Jet Pens overwhelms; Yoseka Stationery offers a refined selection.
Stay sharp, stay curious my friends. And don't forget to write: info@bestmadeco.com.
All my best,
