Hey Team, Somewhere between the haze of what is the week between Christmas and New Year’s, I was scrolling through an app on my TV. I noticed a module that sported the title “Kill Time”. I clicked in, curious as to what’s being deemed as an appropriate way to simply let time pass. A mind-numbing montage of movie trailers and short form videos crossed my screen, which I turned off mere seconds after it began. I wasn’t so much frustrated with the fact that the content presented to me didn’t pique my interest, but rather the fact that we’re advertising ways to openly “kill time”. Why? I get it, sometimes we need a break, and intentional rest has become all too important in an era where hustle culture has hit its peak. Though the second we start thinking that time is invaluable enough to simply kill, we begin to miss out on the point of it all. Time is your most precious asset, and if 2024 passed by as quickly for you as it did for me, you’ll understand the sentiment. Be precious, intentional and selfish with your time. Don’t let others impede it and treat it like the gold that it is. When you set time to work out, do nothing but work out. When you set time to rest, do nothing by rest. Leave your phone at home during the walk. Be present when you’re with friends and family. Be unapologetically bullish when it comes to ensuring you’re spending time the way you want to be spending it. This week brings with it a lot of pressure to set intentions and resolutions for the year ahead. Maybe it’s the year you hit a new PR, commit to running, earn your physical autonomy back, or try something new. Maybe it’s simply the year you put yourself first, because when you do, the rest of your worries become a bit less worrisome. You can’t take care of others unless you take care of you. My message to you for 2025 is to not kill time. Enjoy every minute you get to be here and make it your goal to spend those minutes doing what makes you the happiest. Happy New Year, from all of us at Bodybuilding.com. Until next time. 👋 |
