It’s December, which means it’s the season of giving. A time, decidedly, to dwell in gratitude and exude generosity. And this looks different for everyone. Throughout my life, I’ve seen my family live this out by way of invitation — every Thanksgiving, the people around the table extend beyond who I’m related to. Our table is also full of people who, otherwise, might not have their own loved ones to celebrate with. This always causes me to pause — it’s a reminder of what joy generosity truly brings.
My name is Abbi, and I have the privilege of working with our Water Project Sponsors throughout the Midwest, as well as our remarkable legacy donors, here at charity: water. So as you might imagine, I get to witness radical generosity for the sake of clean water. Supporters who show up again after already donating to say, “How can we do more yet this year?” Legacy donors who aren’t in a position to give now, but are committed to helping solve the water crisis even beyond their lifetime. Donors who deeply believe in our work and humbly double their support year over year.
To each of you: Thank you for living out generosity so beautifully and relentlessly. For the people who now know the gift of clean water — and for those still waiting on it — your impact changes everything. We believe there’s strength in numbers, and right now charity: water supporters are exhibiting this same kind of generosity. This holiday season, we’ve set a big goal of funding clean water for 50,000 people. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together.
