It’s Earth Month. Maybe you’ve noticed? Suddenly everyone from your bank to your grocery store to your favorite water charity (ahem) is using the G word.
Green.
That’s a tough one for us, because we’ve seen a lot of green water over the years (and brown and yellow and other colors that defy description…).
What we’re all about is moving from green water to clean water. So we much prefer the other Earth Month standby. The S word. But that’s a word we use a lot, year-round.
Sustainability is the very heart of our strategy for what gets built, where. Many of the communities we serve are located in the most vulnerable regions on the planet, so we need the water solutions we fund to withstand increasingly severe climate conditions and weather events.
After all, if you consider the literal meaning of the word — the ability to be maintained — it’s all about being durable. Built to last for the long haul.
Most of the communities we serve have spent years — decades, even — hoping and praying for clean water. Some people have been waiting their whole lives. Which means when we — together with supporters like you — bring water to one of these communities, it’s important vital that it continues to flow for years. For generations.
No matter what the weather might have in store.
How do we make sure our water solutions are green in only the good ways?
