First off, we hope you already snagged your limited edition Body Cleansing Bar! We’ve been receiving a lot of questions if this will be a permanent item so I thought I’d send a note to let you know why, for now, it won’t be.
Making something limited edition isn’t just to drive hype and hope the product sells out - we promise! In the case of the Body Cleansing Bar (our first body wash), we decided to make limited quantities because the bar we made doesn’t fit within our pricing philosophy.
By now, you know that our “thing” here at cocokind is to make super high quality formulas at accessible prices. We do this by investing in quality ingredients, not on fancy packaging or major marketing. As a result, our products are typically priced well below comparable products in the market (think our $22 serum or $27 retinol vs. $50+ alternatives). This is where we win — superior products and ingredients for a better price.
When we developed our Body Cleansing Bar, we took the same approach and put in super high quality ingredients like ceramides – which are $$$$. That’s why you don’t really see ceramides commonly in body bars, even though it’s an amazing ingredient for hydration & skin health (especially needed in the winter)!
Because of the expensive formula, we’d have to sell this bar for $12 to $15, which is more expensive than conventional body bars and just doesn’t fit within our pricing philosophy for permanent products.
