Ahead of today's VC x Minecraft restock, we just wanted to send a little update on the tariff situation.
Despite recent headlines, there have been no implemented changes to the tariffs that are applied to Cool Shirtz products.
The U.S Customs and Border Protection has, at this time, not provided a plan to stop charging tariffs. The reduction talked about in the news only affects IEEPA tariffs. Which is only 1 of 3 tariffs that apply to our products
The tariffs that became applicable last year when de minimis was removed, unfortunately, still apply.
This means all orders to the US will still be shipped as usual; via Australia Post International Shipping (Duties and Taxes Included). You'll be able to see all tariff/duty charges outlined at checkout before you complete your purchase.
We know this isn't great news, we'd love to be able to ship to you guys tariff-free and we hope one day that dream can come true!
That's all you need to know, but if you'd like some additional context - please read below.
THE LONG VERSION
Our shipments to the USA are affected by 3 Kinds of Tariffs:
1. Base HTS Customs Duty
2. Section 301 Surcharge
3. IEEPA "Reciprocal" Tariffs
The Supreme Court decision only affects number 3.
Numbers 1 and 2 have actually been around for a long time. But prior to August 2025, they only applied to shipments over $800USD. This was called "De Minimis".
In August of 2025, De Minimis was removed, making these tariffs apply to all shipments. This change remains in effect.
On top of this, the US Government implemented IEEPA Tariffs - these are the tariffs that are being challenged right now.
At the time of writing, these tariffs still apply. It is up to US Customs to action a plan to stop charging these, which will likely happen over the coming days or weeks.
When this happens, the new 15% Global Tariff announced in response to the Supreme Court's Ruling will likely take it's place. Leaving us in essentially the same situation we're in now.
We understand this is incredibly confusing (we're confused too!). This situation is developing in real-time, and we're doing our best to stay on top of an incredibly complex global situation.
