TL;DR: we are offering a sale this week and donating to Native Conservancy; we hope you consider sustainable products and small businesses when you’re shopping for gifts this season
Hi Daybreak crew!
Welcome to my least favorite week as a small business owner. I’m sure I shouldn’t admit this and just submerge myself in the holiday-Black-Friday-frenzy, but it's true. In times like these, it is hard to focus on sales, but we try to keep in mind that thoughtful, well-made, climate-friendly gifts are a wonderful way to share love and nourishment when times are tough.
Each year around this time, we like to focus on financially supporting our non-profit partner Native Conservancy while trying to articulate the nuance of existing in our capitalistic society, celebrate Thanksgiving with loved ones, acknowledge the painful history of Thanksgiving, appreciate the importance of Native American Heritage Day, and make sales to keep us afloat. If you’ve seen Black Friday sales start early this year (like REALLLLY early…?), it’s a sign that most small businesses are really relying on this holiday season to keep the lights on.
We exist to support seaweed farmers on the West Coast and pay them a fair price for their kelp and seaweed. So that we can bring you truly regenerative, flavor-packed seaweed salts and seasonings. We pay fairly up the supply chain and take on the hair-pulling logistics of transportation, processing, drying, and milling seaweed ourselves, which means our products’ prices reflect the quality and labor at each step in the process. This summer, we made the difficult decision to raise our prices, to ensure we make sufficient margins at some larger grocery stores (Erewhon! Jimbos! more to come!). The one bright spot is that it has allowed us a margin to offer a few sales to our Instagram and email community.
So to encourage your seaweed holiday gifting, we are putting our entire site on sale through Monday November 27.
🪩 20% off everything 11/21 - 11/27
🎁 Always free shipping over $100
💫 On Friday, $5 from every bundle, gift set, and Pantry Essentials 4-Pack will be donated to Native Conservancy!
Even if you’re not looking for seaweed or aren’t in a position to purchase our products, we really rely on our crew for word-of-mouth recommendations (tell your friends, independent grocery stores, restaurants, etc.), connections to businesses looking for employee, vendor, and partner gifts, and general Daybreak enthusiasm in the world.
