Development of the Tank Case started the same way most of our products do: we locked a gaggle of scientists in a room under the guise of “open and honest academic discourse.” Rather than starting from scratch, we gave them a name to work with: Tank Case. To further inspire their development efforts, we provided them with a modern, open-concept workspace… encircled by tanks, with the cannons pointed inwards. To heighten the sense of immersion, we informed the scientists that we'd be firing heavy artillery from the tanks at random intervals until their work was complete. Plastered on the walls was a simple message of inspiration: “The shelling will continue until the Tank Case is finished.” When one of the scientists, timid and shellshocked, forked over a final schematic, he was one of two survivors. We looked over the designs, gave them the thumbs-up, then loaded them both into a brand new prototype we’d been working on while they'd been preoccupied with the Tank Case: an innovative new type of tank that uses scientists as munitions.
