Confession first: I don’t really *do* Dry January anymore.
And that’s actually because I did it once, back in 2023, and really loved it!
That first year taught me a TON. Not because it was hard or miserable, but because it made me realize how little alcohol I actually needed to feel relaxed, social, or present. That reset stuck. Last year I did a more Dry-ish January (with a few intentional exceptions, including a weekend away in Ojai!). Over time, it’s become less about rules and more about awareness.
For me, Dry January was never about being “good” for 31 days or muscling your way through something you don’t enjoy. It was about paying attention. Noticing patterns. Asking what I actually want from a drink: connection, relaxation, ritual. And realizing there are lots of ways to get that without overdoing it.
And yes, of course, I’m the CEO of a non-alcoholic cocktail company (hopefully your fave), so I’m very aware of how this all sounds. But De Soi didn’t come from us wanting everyone to quit drinking! It came from wanting an option that still feels special in your glass, still marks the moment, and still tastes incredible, without the side effects (that don’t always feel worth it anymore).
If you’re doing Dry January, Dry-ish January, or just being a little more mindful this month, I’m cheering you on! Take what you need from January and leave the rest. That’s kind of the point.
And now, my marketing team would definitely be mad at me if I didn’t add a small nudge here, so I’ll keep it quick. If you’ve been meaning to restock,
