CHAAT MASALA IS 50% OFF FOR JUST 3 DAYS, until Monday, 6/15!! It’s such a great spice blend for the summer, even the smallest finishing sprinkle on fruits, grills, cocktails, and salads adds a distinct, mouth-puckering twist!
Here are my best chaat recs that are absolutely perfect for the summer:
🧈 Fried things: I love Sohla El-Waylly’s Okra Pakoras with Chaat Masala Yogurt Ranch! The ranch comes together in minutes with a handful of simple pantry ingredients and is perfect as a dip for the crunchy pakoras — a 10/10 appetizer for when you’re hosting. Batter-fried spinach may sound odd but spinach chaat is very well-loved across India and so fun as an indulgent snack.
🍹 Bevvies: The seasoning makes for the perfect cocktail rim for this Smoky Peach Margarita and you could use the Spicy Peach Shrub for quick mocktails as well (the shrub + some fresh mango juice + a chaat rim would be 🤌🤌). Oh, and also, Masala Diet Coke!! Crispy, fizzy, and absolutely unforgettable!
🥗 Salads: You can also make an easy dressing by combining lemon or a citrus juice with a touch of chaat masala, finely chopped jalapeno, and some honey, and pour it over slices of heirloom tomatoes, a peach and burrata salad, or a mango and avo salad. Maneet Chauhan’s Aloo (Potato) Chaat is a delicious play of flavor and textures. You can also try a sweet potato chaat or for more protein, opt for Asha Loupy’s Big Chaat Salad which has paneer and chickpeas!
🌽 Grilled things: Do yourself a favor and make a classic corn on the cob, butter it generously, then dip half a lemon into chaat masala and rub it onto the corn, and munch away! So easy, so good! I always finish my tandoori chicken kebabs and paneer tikka with a drizzle of chaat masala butter for one final bit of oomph, it’s so worth it.
🍧 Sweet things: Pooja Bavishi’s Hibiscus Chaat Masala Sorbet is an absolute revelation. The acidic, floral notes of hibiscus are balanced perfectly with the savory, tanginess of chaat masala. I would also recommend rolling home-made or store-bought fruit popsicles in some chaat masala to make them infinitely more exciting! Finally, and the easiest use of chaat masala is to simply sprinkle it over fresh seasonal fruit: Mangoes! Peaches! Nectarines! Kiwi! Grapefruit!
I might just have to go make a little fruit + chaat snack right now!
