Hello,
I have some bad news to share. Over the past three years, we've been working so hard to keep our prices down instead of up. However, given our sustainable business model and the continued drama of the tariffs unfolding, we can no longer absorb these charges. So, as of September 17th, we will be increasing our prices.
We've always been as transparent as possible with our community, and it's important to me that we continue to be that way even when it's tough. So, I want to break this down for you.
The math on how tariffs work because of how our supply chain works is really frustrating. This year, we have spent about $200k so far in tariffs. Going into next year, we anticipate spending about half a million dollars in tariffs. In order to just recover the $200k we've spent so far, we'd need to sell about 133,000 tins over these next few months. To recover the $500k, we'd need to sell nearly A MILLION TINS next year. This is an incredibly difficult feat for us even with the price increases. It's a real cash flow problem we're actively navigating.
We work with 140+ farmers across India and Sri Lanka to grow the world’s best spices. These are ingredients that CANNOT be grown here in the USA, especially not at scale. We pay our farm partners an average of 4x above the commodity price (what we believe is a truly equitable wage) for the most flavorful, regeneratively farmed spices. These are some our most core values as a business, and doing right by everyone in our supply chain is a responsibility we take very seriously.
We’ve honestly tried everything we can to avoid this situation, but we’re now at the mercy of the whims of the US government. We would love your continued support at our new prices, but we also wanted to give y'all the chance to stock up at our current prices, so head here to do that ahead of Sept 17th.
Myself, our farm partners, and our team are here and love doing this work. We really want to bring you beautiful, extremely flavorful spices, and we'll continue to do that no matter what 💕
