We sell the world’s best pepper (Aranya Black Pepper evangelists, assemble!!) and now, we finally have the pepper mill to match it! We teamed up with Peugeot to bring their signature Paris u'Select pepper mill in 2 exclusive Diaspora colorways: a beautiful pink, and bright, sunshine yellow!
As someone who sells pepper and spices for a living, I’ve been product-testing and reviewing pepper mills for years! Here are the 3 types of pepper mills I’ve found on the market:
- Plastic grocery store pepper mills: These are the cheapest of the lot BUT hard to use, yield a dull and inconsistent crush, and, most importantly, they’re plastic, which means you have to throw them away after you’re done using them.
- Ceramic pepper mills: So beautiful to look at, and typically the sexier option BUT don’t feel great in the hands aka not particularly ergonomic + they usually have a crush grind mechanism that’s not as good as a metal mechanism.
- All-metal pepper mills: The best options out there BUT they cost a pretty penny! Most metal pepper mills lie in the $100-$200 range, which means even though they’re really good, very few people can actually buy them.
I was looking for the goldilocks of pepper mills and I’m soo thrilled we found them at Peugeot! Crafted in France, these pepper mills are made with sustainably-sourced beechwood from PEFC™-certified French forests (that means a forest that’s managed as per strict environmental, social, and economic standards). The mills have a wooden exterior and a steel precision grinding mechanism on the inside, which you can adjust for grind size. It’s super ergonomic, feels great in your hands, and is easy to use + it’s a bright addition to your kitchen counter AND costs under $70!
It honestly feels like the perfect match for our Aranya Black Pepper, which is vine-ripened on the Parameswaran family farm in Kerala, India, until it’s full of fruity heat and complexity. You can shop the mill with the pepper here (also makes for a great gift, in my opinion), and if you’re looking for some recipe inspiration to go with it, try Asha’s Foolproof Cacio e Pepe or Rebecca’s Sugared & Peppered Plum Galette!

P.S. Our spice shop is currently FULLY STOCKED! We've worked SO hard for the past 8 years to get to a point where we can stock all your fave single origin spices and delicious filler-free blends, while still maintaining an ethical supply chain that centers our farm partners. I'm so thrilled to say, you can shop everything here!!
