What a year it's been!! I hope you're cozy and spending your days with loved ones, reflecting on the year and looking forward to 2026 (?!). As a founder, it's not often that you get to take a moment to appreciate the big and small milestones, so even though it's a bit cliché, I do like to do that this time of year. 2025 has been a huuuge year for us. Here are some of my biggest highlights:
- We've spent this year working so hard on our new packaging! It's going to be fresh, exciting design AND tins that are actually easier to open — I can't wait for y'all to see!
- We spent so much more time with our community in London in 2025, from our pop-up at e5 Bakehouse, our supper club with Chef Salonee, and the most beautiful dinner at Michelin-star restaurant Trishna!
- AND we launched a selection of our spices on Ocado!! This allows our lovely UK community to access our spices far more easily (and without a chunky shipping fee)!
- We collaborated with the LOKA team to launch their amazing chai maker along with our special Masala Chai blend — it was even featured on the 2025 NYT Holiday Gift Guide!
- This one isn't really a milestone but I cannot possibly recap this year without talking about the global tariffs! There’s light at the end of the tunnel now and I'll be back with a solid update when there's more to share, but I'm so proud of us for weathering scary storms as a team 💪
- I was on CBS Mornings this year talking about tariffs and it's impact on our business as well as on the way all of us eat! A serious pinch-me moment!
- Somehow, in the midst of it all, we had our biggest Black Friday yet, which means we'll be able to continue to pay our farm partners well-deserved advances on their harvests, and keep bringing you the freshest, most delicious spices!
- Our Mumbai test kitchen has been in full swing all year + if you follow us on Instagram, can we take a moment to acknowledge that I’m making so 👏many 👏reels!! Existing on social media is soo tricky but I want to keep finding ways to connect with y'all and share the journey of our spice biz.
- We launched our new Masala Chai tea and spice blend this year and it's received so much love from all of you! I love to see y'all ordering to add some coziness to your winter days, just like I do. It also got the stamp of approval from Bon Appétit + we made it part of some amazing collabs with our friends at East Fork and Ground Up!
- Quite possibly the biggest highlight of this year was the launch of our biggest ever collab spice blend aka Padma Lakshmi’s Gunpowder!!! What started as me just shooting my shot at a collab product in Padma's DMs turned into a blend we're both so proud of!! I absolutely loved sharing it with y'all in person at our pop-up at Librae Bakery as well as part of Padma's tour for her new cookbook Padma's All American.
- Also in the running for big-huge-pinch-me-moment-of-the-year: The Diaspora Spice Co. Cookbook officially opened for preorders!! I truly cannot believe that this is happening, and I'm sooo impatient for pub day (March 3rd, 2026), when the book will be all yours. It's been a true labor of love, and every single preorder means so much to us all!
