- Viral Call-Recording App Neon Goes Dark After Exposing Users' Phone Numbers, Call Recordings, and Transcripts [techcrunch.com]
Neon was an app "that paid users to record their phone audio so it could sell the data to AI companies to help "train, improve, and test AI models." But the once-viral app "has gone offline, at least for now, after a security flaw allowed anyone to access the phone numbers, call recordings, and transcripts of any other user" — a security flaw discovered by TechCrunch reporters. A reminder to carefully consider the apps you use.
TechCrunch points out that "this would not be the first time that an app with serious security issues has made it onto these app marketplaces."
