1. Emily, USA - What's a song of yours you wish had been a single?
It’s a funny one ya know coz I would say Tenerife sea or dive, but I think that fans like those songs more coz they weren’t blasted on the radio 24/7, so I think the question probs should be which song do I wish wasn’t a single. And I’m gonna keep that close to my chest so I don’t offend anyone that worked on it
2. Marla, The Netherlands - Hi Ed! If there was one sport that you could do professionally, which sport would it be? Cheers, Marla
I love football, so probs that (soccer for you americans out there)
3. Jenna, UK - How do you find inspiration for your tattoos?
Have you seen my tattoos? I just get them based on the day, the next one I’m getting is a bumble bee drawn by my daughter
4. Sofie, Sweden - Hi Ed. You have had a long career behind you. Do you have a favorite arena that you have played in the past? And is there an arena you dream of playing at? 😊 I am looking forward to see u in Stockholm 23 august 🥰
honestly arenas I find a bit cold, they all blur into one, kinda like theyre all build from the same blue print. I love theatres, or stadiums. Both feel loved and cared for by a city, the theatres are steeped in rich history, and stadiums are like landmarks of the cities we play, like a giant communal church
5. Briar, USA - What has been the most fulfilling experience as an artist?
Doing something as a job that doesn’t feel like a job. I would honestly write songs and be on stage for free
6. Grace, UK - How are Callippo and Dorito doing? Will you get another cat?
Nah wouldn’t get another cat til theyre both gone tbh, theyre purrfect, wouldn’t want a younger puss coming in and making them feel sad
7. Chloe, USA - You inspired me to learn the guitar any advice/ suggestions on where to begin in the learning process?
instead of doing the ‘traditional approach’ with theory and scales, ask yourself what you wanna learn it for. If you wanna be john mayer levels of guitar then do all the scales and practice. If you wanna be me, learn 4 chords and practice singing whilst changing them. Most pop songs have 4 chords, once you get the hang of them you can play anything simple
8. Yael, Israel - What’s the one song you wish you could play more live but doesn’t fit concerts as well? What do you love about it?
I love boat, it works sometimes if a crowd is listening, but if it’s a big gig and people came to party, I avoid subtract songs, no one wants to be sad on a Saturday night
9. Meaghan , USA - What is your go-to stress reliever?
I like to run, I also love movies, so either or
10. Irene, Spain - Hi! If you could write a song with your 18-year-old self, what do you think it would sound like and what would it be about?
I’d leave him to it, let him discover the process
11. Aaliyah, USA - Question: What's your favourite non traditional breakfast food/meal? Looking to try something new!
Recently I just blend up all the greens I need in the day for breakfast, down it, then avoid greens in all means from there, I was an oven pizza child and I love beige food, but gotta get your greens in
12. Bita, Germany - Many of your songs have very personal stories. Is there a topic or experience that you've found difficult to express in a song - and why?
F64 was a difficult song to write. The songs that evoke emotion in the writing process usually end up being the strongest
13. Diana, USA - How might one overcome writer's block, or how can one regain creative momentum when feeling uninspired?
Write every day, and don’t stress if its bad. Writers block is just fear of being shit or failing. Dare to suck, and every now and then great stuff will come. No creator is on their a game 100% of the time we all have bad days, have to get through the bad days to get good days though
14. Liesbeth, Belgium - How do you deal with negative criticism?
I've had it my whole life, its not affected my success. When I was unknown I was too weird, too ginger, too keen, when I was successful I was too formulaic, too pop, too bland. I play stadiums every weekend, so something must still be working
15. Jayanna, USA - Have your daughters been able to see you perform on tour yet? Did they enjoy it?
Yeah they love the fireworks
16. Nikolina, Greece - Hey Ed, I saw you performing last summer and was amazed by how you were creating all the music by yourself. I'm wondering, what's the most difficult part of being on stage alone?
I actually don’t find it difficult at all I think coz ive always done it, I find it more difficult playing with musicians coz theres more margin for error. If I mess up I know how to rectify it pretty quick coz ive done so many hours solo on stage
17. Sharee, USA - Question: If you could have 3 days where you could go anywhere and do anything without being recognized. Where would you go and what would you do?
Waterpark, never been to one. I also LOVE trains, so I would probs get a long train across europe
18. Brenda, Brazil - As an artist, bringing joy to many hearts with your music, have you ever met a fan who said you helped heal something, like a sadness they had? If so, how does it feel to know that?
To know that your music has such a positive impact on so many lives? I think art is amazing for connecting people. Everyone feels the same feelings, they just get them from different life experiences, so writing songs that are super personal to me, then they go round the globe at a touch of a button and find something in common with someone, its pretty wild
19. Edna, USA - What are your top 3 must-haves when you're on the road?
Apple tv, Walkman, ipad. Lots of travel time sitting on planes, cars or hotels, so need good movies and good music
20. Valeria, Argentina - Would you like to have a cameo in another movie or tv show?
Yeah why not, I’m not a hard sell, usually if I’m free il do it, coz why not |
