Dave Asprey interviews Leonard Guarente and highlights NAD+.
On
The Human Upgrade, Dave Asprey sat down with Leonard Guarente, Ph.D.—MIT scientist, Elysium co-founder, and “one of the most respected longevity researchers in the world.” Together they unpacked how NAD+ fuels mitochondria, activates sirtuins, and protects DNA—and why keeping NAD+ high is essential for longevity.
Dave Asprey:
When’s the right time to start enhancing NAD+?
Leonard Guarente: The right time is when it starts to decline—because by the time you’re in middle age, when you're 50, your NAD+ is already down. Intervening later is still going to work, but it's not going to work as well as if you started earlier.
Dave Asprey:
And prevention is cheaper than reversing, by orders of magnitude, from what I've experienced in the longevity field.
