About 3.5 years ago, a month before Fishwife launched, I reached out to Jing Gao, founder of Fly By Jing, to get some advice. She graciously took a call with me and soon became a mentor, advisor, and dear friend.
It was an incredible honor to also call her a collaborator, when in 2021, we first launched our Smoked Salmon with Sichuan Chili Crisp. The product was intended to last a month as a limited-time offering, but the ferocious love that both our communities showed for the product compelled us to keep it around.
Weβre so proud to celebrate the THIRD YEAR of partnership between Fishwife and Fly By Jing with our gold-label, limited-edition (but actually!!) Smoked Salmon with Sweet & Spicy Zhong. Inspired by the popular, classic Chengdu street snack Zhong Dumplings, their delicious Sweet & Spicy Zhong sauce is a concoction of aromatic "fuzhi" soy sauce, slow-brewed with brown sugar, mushrooms, garlic, and a blend of spices.
Will let you in on a fun little secret β we actually developed this product back in 2021, but had to make the brutal decision of which sauce to launch with, and ultimately went with Jingβs original Sichuan Chili Crisp. Weβre soooo excited to have the opportunity to share this truly magical tin with you all. We hope you love it as much as we do, annnnd as much as Jing and I love each other <3 <3 <3.
