Our dearest tinned fish fanatics,
I hope I’m finding you heading into 2024 with bright eyes and bushy tails!!
2023 was a peachy year at Fishwife. There were, of course, big and deep potholes along the way, but we were fortunate to experience some truly golden moments. Here are some of the big wins I enjoyed reflecting on over the deliciously quiet holiday period!
- We grew to a full-time team of 5!! Enormous! I ran the company by my lonesome for our first year, and let me tell you, having 4 additional incredibly smart, capable friends involved full-time is leagues more fun.
- We had our national television debut on CBS Sunday Mornings. The segment did a beautiful job of detailing the rise of the tinned fish movement in the US, and traveled with me to one of our cannery partners in Washington State.
- We launched some of our most popular, most delicious products yet!! Our Cantabrian Anchovies arrived in January and stole the hearts of thousands of caesar salad lovers, our Sardines with Preserved Lemon and Hot Pepper splashed onto the scene in the summertime, and our Slow Smoked Mackerel with Chili Flakes arrived with a bang during the fall.
- We made a beer with Talea, a cutting board with Fredericks and Mae, and an anchovy lovin’ hat with ourselves. We also made mugs, matches, thongs, a utensil set, toothpicks, a tote, and a t-shirt. We really love to make things at Fishwife, if you hadn’t noticed.
- We nearly tripled the size of our business!! It seems that brilliant folks like yourselves have found on that tinned fish is indeed the easiest, fastest way to get incredibly nutritious protein into your diet! Thank you!!!
We couldn’t have moved any of these mountains — the little or the big — without you. Fishwife will evolve in some extremely exciting ways this year, and we’re thrilled beyond words to have you on the journey!! Keep your eyes out for some fun news in the coming days — it’ll be coming at breakneck speed this year!! Yeeehaw!!!!
