This week, as we’ve been looking back on our journey, we can’t help but think about the rituals that have shaped us, and that ultimately inspired Glow Recipe.
The traditions that started it all
When we were growing up in Korea, our mothers and grandmothers shared their skincare rituals with us, and those moments stayed with us for a lifetime. We remember using rice water to hydrate our skin or gently rubbing watermelon rinds on heat rashes to calm irritation. Those simple, thoughtful practices not only shaped our love for skincare ingredients, but inspired Glow Recipe’s very first launch. But more importantly, it taught us that skincare isn’t just about results, it’s about creating daily rituals that nourish your skin and bring a little joy to everyday life.
Where Glow Recipe began
One night, we were sipping wine and sheet masking, sharing skincare tips we had learned growing up in Korea. In that moment, we realized we wanted to bring those same efficacious Korean skincare innovations to the US, but make it joyful and sensorial so it was something people could actually look forward to.
From there, we literally entered the Shark Tank and later launched our own products, including the Watermelon Jelly Sheet Mask inspired by that girls’ night in. So many of you have told us you’ve seen our episode, and we love revisiting those early days with you. Back then, we were just two women with a vision and a lot to learn, never imagining the incredible community we would build together.
