Think you need to have a bajillion of points saved in order to get a flight?
Think again. You don’t need to have 100,000 points to fly.
Now, before you say “but, what about…”
Yes, some long-haul international flights do require a hefty chunk of points—particularly if you want to fly in a premium cabin.
But that’s not the only redemption option you have. You can find flights across the US for as few as 9,000 to 15,000 points. Or to Puerto Rico or other parts of the Caribbean for 20,000 points or less.
Here at Going, we routinely find and send high-value, points deals for less than 20,000 points roundtrip.
In a recent Instagram post, I shared a few spring break points deals that our Flight Experts found—just like these. Check it out.

There are many reasons you might want to book a low-cost points deal.
It could be worth it if you only have a few points and still want to travel.
Or maybe this is your first time with this points thing, and you want a lower-stakes way to redeem.
Or, maybe you do have enough points for a big international flight, but you don’t want to pay all the high fees that sometimes accompany an international award ticket. This option is gentler on the bank account.
Taxes on domestic flight redemptions start at $5.60 one way. In other words, your roundtrip flight could cost you less than a monthly streaming service!
That’s not free, but that’s a nearly free flight.
This is also a good strategy for families. If you need to buy three or four plane tickets, lower award ticket prices make it more manageable. At 15,000 points each, four seats for a family would be 60,000 points roundtrip!

A disclaimer about card names: |
Due to the quirks of credit card compliance, we are sometimes not allowed to use the actual names of cards or certain banks in emails. This means we have to resort to using more generic language when talking about some credit cards.
We know this can be confusing or frustrating, but we encourage you to click through to our site, where we can name and talk more candidly about the cards and their benefits. While we are bound by the rules of credit card compliance, our mission will always be to put our readers first and help you travel better for less.
