And just like that, Tomato Girl Summer comes to a close. We’re shedding straw hats and summer salads like we’re shedding overpriced, peak-season airfare. To make room for shoulder season prices, cozy sweaters, crunchy leaves, and chilly walks on a body of water.
Here are some of the most romantic destinations around the US—whether spent arm-in-arm with your someone special or enjoyed completely solo.

Unknown number calling? It’s not random…
The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras laughing at the people they were tricking. One boasted about making a quarter of a million dollars from victims in the US and UK. Another admitted targeting seniors on purpose, forcing a woman to give up her last $100 on Christmas Day.
Here’s the disturbing truth: scammers don’t pick numbers at random. They buy your personal data—phone number, email, lifestyle details—from data brokers. That’s how they know exactly who to target. Once your info is out there, it’s not just spam calls—it’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft.
That’s why we recommend Incogni:
- Deletes your personal info from everywhere online
- Monitors and follows up automatically
- Continues erasing your data as new risks appear
You can’t stop scammers from existing, but you can make sure they don’t have your information to exploit.

Most romantic destinations in the US
Savannah, Georgia
When romance means a leisurely pace, a trip to the southern US is in order. Savannah is all about taking things slowly—think lazy afternoons with picnic lunches under shady trees, horse-drawn carriages, and evening strolls through a historic district filled with pre–Civil War mansions and 20+ public squares. For even more romantic charm, stay in one of the beautiful mansions that’s been converted into a B&B or inn.

Big Sur, California
Scenic road trips can be lovely romantic getaways, especially when the views are as spectacular as they are on California’s Central Coast. The area is popular for hiking and camping, but romantics with a taste for the finer things in life should head straight for the Post Ranch Inn. Each room in the adults-only hotel is built into its surroundings, overlooks either the Pacific Ocean or the mountains, and some even have outdoor soaking tubs.

Sedona, Arizona
Central Arizona’s high desert is renowned for its red sandstone rock formations, lovely enough against a bright blue sky. But the real magic happens at sunrise and sunset, when the rocks look like they catch fire. Airport Mesa is a favorite spot for sunrise, and the short (though steep) trail to Cathedral Rock is a popular sunset spot. You can also indulge in one of Sedona’s many spas—the area is known as a “spiritual vortex,” home to holistic healers of all kinds.

Mackinac Island, Michigan
Little Mackinac Island has been a favorite summer resort destination since the late 1800s. Most of the land is part of Mackinac Island State Park, and the island’s vibe is blissfully car-free. The romantic centerpiece: award-winning Grand Hotel. The resort (a registered historic landmark) opened in 1887, claims to have the longest porch in the world, and has hosted the likes of Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, and JFK.

Barnard, Vermont
Barnard is only a few hours’ drive from busy Boston, but it feels a world away. It was once the home of Nobel Prize-winning writer Sinclair Lewis and his pioneering journalist wife, Dorothy Thompson. The farm property they owned is now one of the most romantic resorts in New England. Today, Twin Farms is a 300-acre all-inclusive adults-only hotel with an onsite spa and gourmet restaurant. In winter, couples can ice skate on the pond, sip hot toddies, and tuck into a special tasting menu guided by the chef, complete with wine pairings.

Hidden cheapest week for international travel—time to book!
With autumn comes our favorite time for cheap airfare: Thanksgiving. Cheap flights? At Thanksgiving?! You might be thinking we’re crazy, and if you’re traveling domestically, you might be right.
But if you’re open to an international getaway, you’re in luck. Thanksgiving is the hidden cheapest week for international travel. Why? The millions of travelers flying domestically are, by definition, not traveling internationally. For airlines, it’s a feast-time domestically and a famine-time internationally. What do airlines do to fill all those planes flying to Paris and Cancún and Barcelona? Simple: Slash the fare.
Here are some deals recently available in the Going app with Thanksgiving availability. Set a flight alert so you don’t miss the next one that rolls around!
- Atlanta to Athens for $456 roundtrip
- Various airports to Osaka starting at $614 roundtrip
- 20 US cities to Venice starting at $436 roundtrip
Here are some things to remember when booking your Thanksgiving flight:
- The best times to fly are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, as well as early Thursday morning or late Thursday night. The worst time is the Wednesday before.
- Look at alternate airports, even if it requires a short drive or train ride. Live in Portland? Consider flying out of Seattle. Flying to NYC? Newark or even Philly might be cheaper.
- Not heading home? Be flexible with your destination. As we like to say, let the deal decide where you'll go!
