Music, wide open spaces, Chip and Joanna (OK, that's in Waco)...there's a lot to like about the Hill Country.
Maximize these fares by renting a car (note that AARP members get a discount on Avis, Budget, and Payless car rental base fares... and it's only $15/yr to join for anyone 18+) then booking an open-jaw flight arriving into either San Antonio or Austin, and depart from the opposite city when you head home to cover more ground.
On the flip side, if you're after a city break, could we interest you in San Antonio? Sure, Austin gets more credit, but Alamo City is the cheaper and more accessible of the two, in our opinion. Or you could hit up both and compare the River Walk to Lady Bird Lake π
