The Bear is a series that showcases the stresses and traumatising experiences that come with being a chef and working in a kitchen. It goes into grief, dysfunctional families, and people self-destructively devoted to their professions. Beyond all of this, the wardrobe is excellent. Every decision made by costume designer Courtney Wheeler feels intentional and well-thought out. From £100 t-shirts and deadstock sneakers worn to work in, to chefs whites made by Thom Browne, to 1940s vintage denim. Head to the site to read more now...

A QUICK HISTORY OF PARABOOT
Founded in 1908 by Remy Richard-Ponvert in the charming village of Izeaux in the French Alps, the company initially crafted wooden-soled footwear, reflecting the region’s traditional craftsmanship. The turning point came in 1926 when Richard-Ponvert, inspired by a trip to the United States, discovered the potential of rubber-soled shoes. This revelation led to the creation of Paraboot, named after the Brazilian port of Para where the rubber was sourced.

Throughout the decades, Paraboot distinguished itself with its commitment to quality and durability. The brand became synonymous with handmade excellence, using Norwegian welt construction for superior water resistance and longevity. By the mid-20th century, Paraboot had established itself as a symbol of French artisanal skill, beloved by both outdoor enthusiasts and urban audiences.
In the 1980s, Paraboot's Michael shoe, characterised by its distinctive apron-front and chunky sole, became a global icon, further cementing the brand’s reputation. Today, Paraboot remains family-owned, continuing to innovate while staying true to its roots. Each pair of shoes is a testament to over a century of dedication to craftsmanship, making Paraboot a timeless staple in the world of footwear.
