A day plus into Team Assessment, an old timer stopped by the tent while the participants were burning 1.5 mile loops through the neighborhood and asked with a big smile what are you guys doing?
Have you ever heard of rucking? Nope, he said. I went through my spiel and pointed out our offices, and he seemed satisfied enough. A couple more participants looped back in, and I asked him what he was up to on such a glorious day.
He told me he walks to the store because he can’t see well enough to drive anymore, and then he started laughing and smiling at the same time, and I started laughing with him and I still don’t know entirely what we were laughing at. He’s standing there in the Florida sun with his roller bag cooler full of groceries and his straw sun hat and his golf polo and two bad eyes, one of which barely opens, and he’s laughing about not being able to drive and I’m thinking, this is just a guy that gets shit done and doesn’t take himself or life too seriously. How awesome and I’ll be on the look out to run into him a LOT more often!
I love that can-do spirit, and it was alive and well with our new friend, and with those who showed up at Team Assessment this weekend. 8 teams started, 5 teams finished. At the ~28 hour mark, they got to work that big muscle between their ears (which was TIRED!) to draw America and there are a few funny pics below. They also got to do the “Impossible Mile” at my kids Lower School track the second night which my boys thought was pretty funny and worth sharing with their buddies on Monday aka today!
Lap 1: Burpee Broad Jumps
Lap 2: Walking Lunges
Lap 3: Bear Crawls (bears don’t have knees!)
Lap 4: Run
Our kind of fun!
