2. The not funny one that bothered me deeply. We’ve been running events all over America since 2010. For the first time, I’m hearing from Ruck Club Leaders and others that there is a little hesitation about carrying the US Flag during some of our events in the USA. Not because our love of country is any less -- no! Mine grows with time and the more of the rest of the world that I see. But there seems to be a perception that that flag is now a political statement, and that’s what people want to talk about: politics, and that’s not what we’re about. Since Lincoln’s days which were too full of American bloodshed there has been one flag to unite us and we proudly wave it. Many of us have worn it, and our way of life depends on others serving that dream of who we can be as a nation together. The flag belongs neither to the right nor the left, and this is something that no matter what we believe, let’s believe that these are the UNITED States of America. Zero politics, just a love of country. We’ll keep carrying it, honk or say what’s up if you see us. We especially love to hear how you serve this country you love, and there are an infinite number of ways to serve.
It was a really fun weekend other than that (huge shout out to Greg at Blue Ridge Ruck Club for the help!), but now I think we’ve set the record straight and all is right in the world 🙂
