I don’t know what your July 4th plans are but now is a great time to stock up on a medley of infused spritzes from Artet. I’m hoping to spend as much of the long weekend outdoors as humanly possible, ideally in or near a body of water, Mango Ginger Spritz in hand. A can or two over the course of the afternoon makes for an ideal daytime high, and is a wonderful addition to any cooler.

I was really only vaguely aware of The Tiny Chef Show through snippets and clips suggested in my social media feeds and a High Praise rec by Verena years ago. But on Tuesday night, while reading election results, this video popped up and crushed me.

I’m going to apologize upfront for how absurdly hyperlocal this is, but if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to recommend Pacha Cafe, a new Peruvian breakfast place in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. It’s a tough time to be a small business, let alone start one, and this place seems very worthy of your patronage. Excellent coffee, friendly people, and an incredible chicha morada that helped cool a mile walk in 100 degree weather.

I hadn’t heard of a wind phone until I saw this post in my Instagram feed a few weeks back. The image alone stopped me in my tracks: a simple wooden chair next to a tea green rotary phone in a booth-like structure in the middle of the desert. Was this an art project? A random act? As it turns out, wind phones are disconnected telephones typically installed in public spaces to offer people a way to “speak” to their deceased loved ones. The first wind phone can be found in the yard of a garden designer in Otsuchi, Japan, one of the places worst hit by the 2011 tsunami. (There’s a real tearjerker of a This American Life episode about it that you can listen to here.) Since then, hundreds of wind phones have been installed all over the world, mostly by grieving individuals. There are even sites dedicated to cataloging their locations. I’d love to find my way to one someday.

I don’t know the lore behind the odd name of this strain by Cresco Labs, but I do know that if you can find 8" Bagel, you should buy it. Great for inflammation, pain, and just wanting to chill out.
