One of the few European companies really pushing the smoking lifestyle scene forward, WEED’D’s products consistently look like nothing else on the market. Their new SB005 ashtray, designed by Simone Bonanni, is no different. Reminiscent of 1970s Italian furniture design (think Mario Bellini and Afra and Tobia Scarpa) or, I suppose, an Erwin Wurm house, the SB005 is a great little piece of flash to have out on any table. Comes in red, sky blue, and ochre. -DW

Verena was on a much-deserved vacation this week (in a place for which I’m sure she’ll have many forthcoming High Praise recommendations) and my partner was also out of town for much of it, leaving me to mind both the proverbial store myself as well as solo parent. And you know how I not only got through it, but actually somehow did it well? Dawn. I literally doubled down on Dawn. I know I talk about it a lot and of course I’m biased, but Dawn is incredible for just getting shit done. -DW

I was vaguely aware that there was a documentary made about Reading Rainbow, the seminal children’s educational show that I assume needs no further explanation, but still, I was pleasantly surprised to see Butterfly in the Sky when I randomly opened Netflix this week. Ninety minutes later, I was ordering nearly every book that ever appeared on the show and queueing up old episodes to watch with my son. The documentary itself is surprisingly good and weighty, as many of these types of things are often just nostalgia fluff. And if nothing else, don’t you want to know the story behind how the theme song came to be? -DW

My old college friend and the New York food world’s favorite person, Anoop Pillarisetti (along with Ham El-Waylly, and Michael Tuiach), just opened his new restaurant, Strange Delight, and you should do everything you can to get a table. Located in Fort Greene on what’s becoming a real restaurant row (nearby Sukh and Margot are also quite good), Strange Delight pays homage to an assortment of New Orleans’ favorites, and then some. I haven’t had swordfish in probably 20 years but their blackened swordfish belly is now on my list of best dishes in New York. The Sazerac bread pudding also can’t be missed. Go. Go now. -DW

This one comes directly from the Gossamer community. Choreographed by Robin Cantrell and put on by Battery Dance, RITUAL is an interactive live dance performance that blends art and audience participation. Or, as Robin writes, “As a cannabis connoisseur, a psychedelic enthusiast, and an artist, I’d like to offer a recommendation to your newsletter readers. I’ve created an evening-length, interactive, dance show that will run June 6-8 at The Boiler in Williamsburg. If I weren’t in charge of the show, I would love to pop an edible, sit back, and totally bliss out on being immersed in this show.” Sounds good to me. -DW
