It’s Friday. We’re still watching the One Battle After Another trailer on a loop; September can’t come quickly enough. But first, your weekend agenda:
- Watch the first two episodes of AppleTV+’s The Studio, then read about how Seth Rogen and company made “The Oner,” an entire episode that unfolds in one long complicated take (guest-starring Sarah Polley as a director trying to shoot a long complicated take.)
- Gear up for this Sunday’s penultimate The White Lotus episode by reading our Q&A with Jason Isaacs. Last week saw his character, embattled family patriarch Tim Ratliff, contemplating ending it all, so we can’t wait to find out what Isaacs meant when he told us Tim’s predicament “may well inspire behavior that you are yet to see.”
- Dunk your face in ice water and then ponder whether the absurdly complicated viral morning routine of fitness influencer Ashton Hall marks the death knell for a certain strain of grindset hustle-bro culture, as GQ columnist Chris Black suggests in this week’s Pulling Weeds.

- And don’t ask OpenAI to make you a fake Studio Ghibli image. Just don’t. The world needs water, not another anime-style picture of The Office’s Michael Scott (who would have been super into AI, which should be reason enough for you not to be.) Instead, watch an actual Studio Ghibli movie. We’ve got a few suggestions.
