All Hail Seth Rogen, King of the Chill Double-Breasted Suit |
In addition to being a top-tier writer, director, producer, funnyman, cannabis advocate, and pottery impresario, you can add looking spectacular in a double-breasted jacket to Seth Rogen’s impressive skillset. As anyone paying close attention to Rogen’s oeuvre will have noticed, the Freaks and Geeks star’s wardrobe has matured along with his slate of projects over the last few years. A strong rotation of crisp suits, sleek loafers, and funky Moscot frames replaced a formerly schlubby selection of button-downs, jeans, and sneakers. Now, along with creating one of the best shows of the year and teaching the world how to effortlessly throw a tulip cup, he’s also become a reliable source of inspo for looking incredibly chill in a double-breasted jacket.
Wearing a suit well is a tricky business at the best of times, requiring significant attention to fabric, details, styling, and an immaculate fit. A double-breasted suit, however, takes things to another level of complexity, with an esoteric array of button orientations to choose from and an elevated risk of looking like a Dick Tracy villain if you get it wrong. The difficulty level makes Rogen’s ascendence from stoner comedy king to king of the DB even more impressive.

Continuing a sartorial hot streak that began onscreen in The Studio, Rogen was spotted this week in NYC wearing the heck out of a powder-blue DB jacket. A master class in summer tailoring finesse, Rogen’s fit demonstrates the importance of details, contrast, and balance with a boxy white tee (tucked), a pair of breezy khaki trousers (creased), and a pair of brown penny loafers (note the tone-on-tone camel socks). In keeping with the advice of guys who understand such things, Rogen tempered the formality and inherent costumeyness of the DB by wearing it unbuttoned, giving it more the feel of a chore coat or cardigan than a piece of haute tailoring.
Rogen’s also been making the rounds wearing a Brunello Cucinelli DB paired with a crisp white button-down collar shirt and brown horsebit loafers. Aside from the all-important fit, which is flawless, the chunky weave and pale brown color of the cloth provide an essential contrast to the showiness of the suit’s big peak lapels. |
To give credit where it’s due, Rogen’s glow-up has been helped along by his longtime stylists, Wendi Ferreira and Nicole DeJulio, who also dress the likes of Tom Cruise, Shia LeBeouf, and Jacob Elordi. Still, if Rogen is half as good at wearing suits as he is at writing jokes and designing ceramics, he’s more than capable of carrying any of these looks over the finish line unassisted.
