Ahhhh Easter Weekend—a glorious time for us all to unwind and relax (unless, of course, you have kids and can’t wait for schools to open again).
Personally, it marks a meaningful moment in my own calendar—I moved into my ‘forever home’ with my wife and baby daughter a year ago today. So to celebrate, we’re having some neighbours over to say thanks for welcoming us into the community.
Which brings me to the point. We can take care of the nutrition with great food, better habits, and amazing supplements… but that doesn’t change the fact that to enjoy the splendours of life, we need community.
Loneliness is the disease—community is the cure.
I’m not a religious person (and either way I’m not Christian) but seeing as it’s Easter Sunday, it’s worth sharing that the most important commandment of all, as I see it, is “love thy neighbour”. If we all did that, just imagine how much love there would be in the world.
When we’re lonely, we wait for others to come to us, but there’s another option on the table. To be proactive. To be a great neighbour. To reach out to someone in your local neighbourhood to see if they need a hand. These actions not only do wonders for your community, but also for your own mental health.
