🥀 Nothing is Sacred in the Sneaker World
TLDR:
The sneaker world has long embraced retro releases — no one is
complaining whenever the original Air Jordan 1 “Bred” makes a return —
but what does it mean for brand prestige when this sacred tier of
sneakers is taken from its exalted position in sneaker lore and made
available to the masses?
Why
It Matters: Nike Dunk High “Wu-Tang.” UNDEFEATED x Air Jordan
4. Nike Air Force 1 Low “PlayStation.” Each is a legendary release that
has been worshiped by collectors for decades. Yet this untouchable
status is soon to be a thing of the past. All three pairs are returning
to shelves as Nike’s re-releasing approach continues to dig deeper into
their vault than ever before. “When I started Sneaker Freaker in 2002,
the idea of bringing out shoes we haven’t been able to wear for 20 years
always ignited excitement,” shares Simon “Woody” Wood, founder of the
world’s longest-running sneaker magazine. “But now we’re stuck in this
loop where it’s been going for another 20 years — how many times have we
seen the Air Max 90 “Infrared” come back?”

🎃 Supreme Fall 2024 Tees
TLDR:
After unveiling a collaborative range with Jordan Brand, Supreme
is back with its new seasonal lineup of graphic tees.
Why
It Matters: For Fall 2024, the New York Imprint has revealed
eight new styles featuring bold graphics and eclectic designs, paying
tribute to the street scene, pop culture and modern art. Highlighted
from the drop, the navy Blockbuster tee spotlights a reimagined Supreme
logo inside an octagonal frame, meanwhile, large “FOREVER OUTSHINE”
lettering graces the back in a subtle checkered pattern. In the vein of
bold graphics, a light ash gray tee boasts a tongue-in-cheek depiction
of Mary with a glass of wine in hand, while holding holding the baby
Christ. American artist Gordon Matta-Clark’s photos of Pier 52 from his
“Days End” series are featured on a cardinal red tee for a striking
visual contrast. Elsewhere, the dusty purple tee depicting a “sleeping”
Snow White is hard to miss for old-school Disney fans.

📣 Hypebeast Magazine #34: The Uniform Issue
TLDR:
The latest issue explores the concept of a uniform, whether
ascribed or chosen, as an expression of who we are to the rest of the
world.
Why
It Matters: More than just a representation of style,
uniforms can transcend clothing to represent greater ideas about art,
self-development, regionality, and personal appearance. A uniform can
serve as a tool, signature, and a mode of freedom, as showcased by the
icons and luminaries featured within the magazine. Many high-functioning
people sing of the uniform’s merits: the ritual, the routine, the
utility. For our cover star Peggy Gou, the music superstar’s unique
blend of eye-catching yet comfortable outfits accompany her from red-eye
flights to festival stages in front of thousands of fans across the
globe. For our second, collectible cover featuring Sterling Ruby, the artist’s dependable workwear protects him from paint splatter and equips him to spend hours on end creating new, mind-blowing work at his Los Angeles studio.
