John here. This week, I attended a meeting for the Wilson Tech Advisory Board. I shared with the teachers how we hire people with differing abilities and we talked about what they can do to help get students ready for jobs.
I learned from my dad that it is important to give back. We give back by donating money to our charity partners like the Special Olympics and National Down Syndrome Society. But it is also important to give back with our time.
My Dad serves on many boards like the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and the Suffolk County Workforce Development Board. I am on the board of the National Down Syndrome Society and the Advisory Board for Wilson Tech.
In my last three years of high school, I split my time between Huntington High School and Wilson Tech. I loved going to school. I had great teachers at Huntington High School. Thank you, Dr. Murphy-Jessen and Ms. Klee. At Wilson Tech, my teachers were Mrs. Campagnoni and Ms. Ziegler. I studied office skills and retailing and that helped me get ready to start John’s Crazy Socks.
My teachers and schools helped me so much. That is why I give back to help them.
I want to thank you for making everything I do possible. When you buy our socks, you help us give jobs to people with differing abilities, people like me. You help us give back. Most of all, you help us spread happiness.
