John here. I have exciting news. The U.S. Department of Labor has proposed eliminating the subminimum wage. Now, we need your help in making this happen.
In 1938, a law allowed employers to pay people with a disability less than minimum wage. A few years ago, more than 400,000 people with a disability were working and being paid as little as 5 cents an hour.
The Department of Labor has proposed a rule change that says no new employers can pay the subminimum wage and those that do have to stop within three years.
Now, we need your help. The Department of Labor is taking public comments on this proposed change. We need you to speak up and make this change a reality.
