Dear Letterfolk family,
The end of the school year often means that the burden of keeping kids engaged and entertained often falls to parents. You all are expected to be like magicians, turning everyday tasks into fun, engaging activities for your little ones. While our Tile Mat isn’t designed as a toy, per se, it can be a fantastic learning tool that keeps children busy while you take care of your own house tasks. Here are a few examples:
ABCs and 123s
Our Tile Mat’s customizable design gives you a blank slate to create anything your heart desires. Why not use it to help your child learn their ABCs and 123s? You can create letters or numbers from hexagonal tile pieces and have your little ones guess them. Once they’ve mastered individual letters and numbers, involve them in creating a quirky front door mat. They can help place the tiles, sound out the words, and proudly state the correct numbers.
Did Someone Say: “Puzzle”?
One of the perks of having kids is that they can help you with tasks. Put them to work by treating the Tile Mat as a unique puzzle. Use our design tool to map out your desired design, print it, and gather the appropriate pieces. Ask the kids to organize the tiles according to the design. Once they’re done, you’ll have a beautiful front porch mat that your kids helped create.
Colors, Colors Everywhere!
If your aspirational Tile Mat design is too challenging or your little one isn’t ready for ABC learning, use it for color association. Mix up a Tile Set Bundle and encourage your child to sort the tiles into like-colored piles.
Note: The Tile Mat pieces are quite small, so if your child is under 3, close parental supervision is advised.
We’d love to see your designs (and the kids’ designs!) on Instagram @letterfolk. Share your creativity with us!
And just a reminder as you embark on summer travel: Letterfolk’s passports make for a perfect companion on all sorts of journeys: road trips, national parks, hikes, campgrounds, concerts, and more.
Until next month,
