Hi,
We’re reaching out with an important clarification and genuinely good news for people whose dogs have a chicken sensitivity or allergy!
Our Hip & Joint 2.0 chews are made with hydrolyzed chicken liver, not intact chicken protein.
Here’s why that matters:
Hydrolyzed protein is broken down through a specialized process into very small peptide fragments. Because the protein is “pre-digested” into smaller pieces, it is generally much less likely to trigger an immune response compared to whole chicken ingredients.
This is why hydrolyzed proteins are commonly used in veterinary therapeutic diets designed for dogs with food sensitivities. We use hydrolyzed chicken liver at a low inclusion level strictly for palatability and digestibility. It is part of the inactive portion of the chew and is not a primary protein source.
Many dogs with chicken sensitivities tolerate hydrolyzed protein well. That said, every dog is different. If your dog has a confirmed or severe chicken allergy, we always recommend speaking with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplement.
For full transparency, our formula contains fish-derived ingredients alongside hydrolyzed chicken liver, and is formulated without wheat, corn, or soy.
If you have questions about whether Hip & Joint 2.0 is right for your dog, just reply to this email. We’re always happy to help.
Clear labeling. Honest communication. Science-backed decisions.
With Love,
The Little Chonk Health Dept. Team
