It's officially 80°F in Nashville, and I can feel the summer heat wrapping its heavy arms around our city. And while Nashville heats up in more ways than one in the summer, I’m packing. This mountain child needs alpine water to dive into and mornings wrapped in sweaters with mugs of steaming tea as the sun melts the dew into fog on the grass.
The first stop is North Carolina for the pristine white beaches and dolphins nosing the tips of our paddle boards (before it gets too hot). Then, it's off to the Colorado mountains, where we’ll hike the fourteeners and float the freezing rivers. And finally, to complete my summer of solace, we’ll head to Northern Michigan, where the water is crystal clear and so cold it makes you scream with delight when you jump in. Meet me at the beach fire and don’t forget your sweatshirt.
