| This week: Getting to know the Baltics | | | Lots to love about Lithuania | I can’t quite work out why I haven’t been to Lithuania yet. I live in an area with a strong Lithuanian community, and my neighbors are full of cool things to say about it. One in particular always tells me, “You have to go! It has more UNESCO heritage sites than you can imagine!” They rave about the food, the spa towns, the drifting sand dunes and the sheer beauty of the place, and every time I think, “Okay, I'll go there soon.” Well, I think this might finally be the year. Lithuania was picked as one of the top destinations to visit in 2025 in our Best in Travel campaign, so it feels like the universe is giving me a nudge. I’m thinking I'll turn it into a full Baltics tour, adding Estonia and Latvia in the mix too. And just look at the image above of the Lithuanian city Kaunas, with its pastel-hued buildings and flower baskets spilling color like fresh paint. Gorgeous! I think spring in the Baltics is calling. | | | | | Our Lithuania expert’s guide to Vilnius | I'm loving all the amazing things our Balkans Editor Sandie Kestell got up to on a recent weekend in Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius. | | | | | This rundown of top things to do in Estonia is packed full of fun, like kayaking through peat moors and spa-hopping across its islands. The Singing Festival, in particular, hits all the right notes for me. | | | | | Don't miss Latvia. With story-laden castles, epic trails along deserted shorelines and an often-overlooked cultural scene, there are abundant reasons to visit. | | | | | Plan your perfect trip to all three Baltics | But why pick one Baltic state when you can pick three? Our writers and experts have wrapped all the best bits of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in one brilliant guidebook. | | | Reader question: I’d love to get away from it all this year with a tropical beach vacation, but I can’t spend too much money. Is there something that fits the bill? LP recommendation: We’ve got you – these 11 destinations will give you a taste of paradise without breaking the bank. Think sugar sand beaches and sublime turquoise seas.
