Hey guys,
Mike from Manukora here. For Small Business Saturday, I wanted to send a quick note and share a bit of what’s been happening behind the scenes at Manukora. It’s been a massive year for us, full of big shifts, bigger challenges, and a huge amount of teamwork.
The biggest one: we finally made the move to glass!
This has been years in the making. Getting the right amber-tinted glass (something that truly protects our Mānuka and feels worthy of it) wasn’t something we were willing to rush. Building the supply chain, testing, redesigning, refining. It's taken a huge effort from the whole team. 2.5 years to be precise 😅
And then, just as we were finally ready, the government shutdowns hit. Almost every shipment of glass was held up at the border - sometimes for over a month. Every time we felt close, something set us back again.
But honestly, watching our entire team pull together during that time is something I’ll never forget.
From our landowners and beekeepers to our operations crew, customer team, design, and marketing, everyone had a hand in bringing this glass launch to life. And of course, you all and your amazing patience as we were forced to delay the final launch date 3 times while the product sat at the border.
We’ve talked with so many of you about this transition over the years, and we felt we owed it to the honey and to you to get this right. Now that it’s here, we couldn’t be more proud. Putting our Mānuka in the jar it deserves is easily one of the biggest milestones of our year.
Small businesses don’t often show the scrappy, messy, behind-the-scenes reality. But, that’s exactly what makes days like today meaningful! You’re not just buying honey, you’re supporting the people who care deeply about making something special.
Thanks for being part of this journey with us.
Mike
CEO & Co-Founder, Manukora
(P.S. Freya, my wife and our Head of Customer Experience will probably drop in a YouTube clip of me at the Honey House stressing over the glass launch… because transparency, right?)
