As we move through the winter solstice, these long, quiet nights have been making me thoughtful. There's something about darkness and the fog here in Sacramento that makes me see things more clearly. Or at least feel them more honestly. I’ve had a chance to finally slow down and acknowledge what I've been holding onto.
This past year has been hard for a lot of us. The Year of the Snake brings shedding and uncomfortable truths, and I definitely felt that in our little studio. Rising costs, creative burnout, days when keeping this small handmade business going felt almost impossible. And I know so many of you have carried your own version of that weight this year.
But here's what keeps me going: the way we show up for each other. You shared our work, checked in, sent kind notes, supported us through slow seasons. You've reminded me over and over that this isn't just about making things—it's about people.
Looking toward the Year of the Horse, I'm holding onto that momentum and heart. Horses run in herds; they don’t go it alone. That feels like exactly the kind of energy I want to cultivate as I head into a new year… forward motion, but carried together.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for choosing handmade. Thank you for giving our tiny team a reason to keep going.
I hope the solstice brings you some rest, the new year brings you warmth, and we all step into the light together—steadily, side by side.
