Unnnnggghhhh is the sound of my unwilling soul being dragged from the beach to a laptop in January (it's summer in the Southern Hemisphere, people).
But! So much to look forward to this year. Deep snow dives in Hokkaido, the Crossbody 2.0 in stock very soon (grab those pre-order deals while you can), Kenny G allegedly coming out of retirement β sometimes we're so excited it's hard to sit still.
And more of the same good times with 3X3 in 2024: 3 interesting stats, 3 snappy snippets (do I sound like my grandma? I sound like my grandma) and 3 deeper reflections.
And last but not least: the timeless two-question survey down below, with $50 credit on offer. Let's go!

Our recommendation this month:
If you have weird tastes (like us) you might be interested in "start the day on a tropical beach, end it on a world class mountain" β and in Japan, that's possible. Start in Naha, Okinawa with a leisurely morning beach sesh, then take the 3:30pm direct flight to Sapporo and hit the night skiing at any of the fields surrounding the city.

The BBC knows *exactly* how to make me procrastinate: by providing a large collection of stories about unusual roads.
Sample titles from the Open Road series include " The World's Longest Shortcut", " The 113-mile Floating Highway" and " A Lonely Drive to the Edge of the Earth" - it's actually unfair to distract me so effectively?

I've always thought if Minaal had stores, we'd open them in locations that are an adventure just to get to β Tierra del Fuego, Pai, Twizel.
The French running company Distance has gone the same route, opening a small store in Iten, Kenya, the spiritual home of long distance running.
This sort of thoughtful, careful integration of commerce and culture should be happening much more often. Anyone else have examples?

We all have our own feelings β usually positive β about getting away from it all. But what does the science say makes the best vacation?
It's worth reading the full article, but the summary seems to be: planning itself is part of the stress relief; try to (of course) detach from work and other parts of your everyday life; and focusing on learning a new skill is a great way of achieving that detachment.

In exchange for two rapid-fire questions, there's also a randomly drawn $50 store credit on offer here.

As always: let us know what you liked, what you'd like to see more of, your favourite running route, that sorta thing.
