That's it, folks!
We're headed for the hills (and the beaches, and the slopes).
It's been a helluva 2024, so it's break time. You'll still see an occasional email from us, and we'll still be around to ship orders, but in general we're taking a break from Dec 27 - Jan 3.
Wishing you a fulfilling journey into 2025.
...before you head out the door: the $100 survey is down below π

Congrats to Jennifer, our latest survey winner!
"My favorite place in the world is the East Coast of Tasmania. Beaches, mountains, sand dunes, pristine blue waters...it's an amazing drive and some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen in my life, all packed into a relatively small area."

- Not a sentence I ever thought I'd write: check out the very cool Day Of The Dead photo essay in Vogue.
- The 25 Places To Go in 2025 list throws up a few surprises...
- Soon, you'll be able to help (or, "help") your airline track down your lost baggage β if you have an AirTag.

As we become more and more overwhelmed by the firehose of information being pointed straight at our brains, we're going to need ways to filter and block "head trash".
Don't think we'll find much disagreement with the opinion that phones are, by default, the biggest danger to deep focus.
Some entrepreneurs are starting to spot the opportunity. One example is Punkt phones, which blend simplicity with privacy (and timeless design) to give you a functional mobile phone instead of a distraction factory in your pocket. Reviews are solid.
Pricey, yes β but how much would you pay to never be distracted again?

My go-to line about Japan is "everything you can say about Japan is always true; the opposite is also always true".
Nowhere is this more obvious than when we talk about stuff (or lack of it).
Famous for minimalism and Marie Kondo, at the very same time Japan is home to a mind-boggling amount of clutter, as explored by Aeon in this essay.
Understanding how the two opposites co-exist is a starter for understanding Japan as a whole.

Yeah yeah OK this might be rose-tinted glasses but... didn't the internet use to feel cooler?
When money wasn't the goal of every single site we visit. When random geeks gathered strange ideas and words and products for us to stumble on.
At least one dude is holding strong. And he owns milk.com.
That's right, one of the most valuable .com domains in the world is owned by a guy named 'Danfuzz' who has no plans to sell it (well, no realistic plans at least.)
How did this come to be? Check it out on The Hustle.
